When you lose a loved one to a certain disease or illness, many times family members will dedicate themselves to the fight against it. Such is the case with Jessica Barberia, who lost her mother to a blood clot, and is now trying to raise both awareness of the seriousness of blood clots, and funds to help fight them.
Jessica has joined Team Stop The Clot, which is participating in this year;s New York City Marathon. She has a web page set up explaining how you can help. If you are unable to help monetarily, please share her page on one or more of the social networks listed on the page.
This year's New York City Marathon will be held on November 3rd, and Total Home Supply will be supporting Jessica and Team Stop The Clot right up to the finish line.
Love Hope Strength (LHS) is an international, music-centric cancer charity dedicated to saving lives, one concert at a time. The mission is to save lives, right now, with the advances that have already been made in cancer care.
They don't fund cancer research, but rather build and support cancer centers around the world, build awareness of global cancer needs and perhaps the most importantly, build international bone marrow databases through the "Get On The List" campaign.
They have been responsible for adding over 30,000 people to the national bone marrow database. One way they run the drive is through registration at music concerts throughout the country. Additionally, they raise awareness and registration through events like Chili Cook-Offs and School of Rock events.
They are responsible for the first mammography machine in the country of Nepal as well as a transport vehicle for a children's cancer center in New Jersey.
Many musicians are supporting this cause through funding on reverbnation.com where half the proceeds of purchased music are donated to LHS.

While we have officially reached the halfway point of the summer, in many areas of the country, kids are already back in school. Over most of the country this has been the hottest summer in a very, very long time. Extended heat waves seem to be the norm in far too many areas, and it isn't even August yet.
